Dance in the Rain

Image
Well hello my dear friends. I just realized it has been over two years since my last post, and those two years have been full of ups and downs. From the doctors finding malignant polyps in my husband's colon to a miscarriage, saying goodbye to my precious Harley, to welcoming a member number 3 to our family. They have been two long, but full years.  A lot has happened, both good and bad, but it's the situations and circumstances that we experience that help mold and form us into the humans we are. Experience is a great teacher. We learn if we are doing something correctly, or if we need to change our plan of action. As I reflect on the past two years of my life, I realize that I have made many mistakes, more than I can count. But I have learned that in the midst of those mistakes; I have learned how to not do things, or handle situations. I have learned that our children are a gift from God, and we are to take our job of teaching our children the gospel seriously. I have lear...

This too shall pass

We are all given this opportunity to live life. We can either be intimidated by the hurdles that plague our journey-or we can accept them and deal with them, as they come along. I was at church a few years back and a pastor was speaking about the other end of the storm. Each storm we endure has one thing in common-it too will end. If you think of a storm that has come through, yes it is nasty outside, but when it passes there is sunshine and beauty. I am not saying you can't see or feel the effects of the storm, but the storm has passed. I am taking this thought with me: "This too shall pass". A very close person I know's husband who is in his late 20's is being tested for cancer. They have two children around my children's ages and I am thinking how can I be there for this friend? What would I do if I were in her situation? Well, I can't say for sure, however I would expect I would want encouragement from my peers and family-not sympathy. I would want to ...

Put the cape on....

I got a job as an Office Clerk at a local power sports store. Hmmm. I have no clue how to speak the lingo! Good thing is that I am a fast learner and I will not be dealing with the maintenance of the bikes and quads. I will be doing paper work and all that stuff....in MY OWN office! :D  I am still doing the Sensa diet and have made a choice not to eat beef burgers anymore: I am eating turkey burgers and turkey bacon, not too bad I must say. I have lost five pounds so far and plan on taking up kick boxing instead of Zumba (my new schedule conflicts with that of Zumba's). So, I will not only be working out, but I will be learning how to kick some booty; so you better watch out! I think I am doing good with my diet, with the exception of yesterday when I had a huge Cannoli! As far as school, ohmygoodness! My schedule is crazy hectic! I will work M-F 8:30 to 5:30; Saturday 8:30-2:00; class on Monday and Wednesday from 6:30-8:00, Charity wants to do T-ball and I'm thinking of bein...

Reflections

Image
It is yet another new year; a time when we spend reflecting on the past and try to focus on our future. As I join many people, I reflect on the year that held many disappointments. In 2011 we witnessed many imaginable things: a shooter took lives of innocent people in Arizona,  an earthquake in Japan that took the lives of many, the Royal wedding between Prince William and Royal Duchess Catherine, the slaying of Osama bin Laden, the rebuilding of Tuscaloosa, Alabama when the tornadoes took the lives and livelihood of many people to a soldier in training whose life was cut short. For me, 2011 I have had heart breaks, as well as triumphs. My family and I have went from homeless with very few possessions to having a place full of furniture, clothes, and other necessities. I have learned that I am a better person because of the year 2011, I had hit rock bottom and the only place to go now is up; with the help and support of my husband, I am growing. I am moving on up. I have only two y...

UGH! Random thoughts

Not too much to be deeply in thought, just random thoughts! So, I woke up this morning feeling like complete crap! UGH! My throat hurts, my head hurts and my house needs to be cleaned, and my children have taken what seems to be an Aggravate MOM pill. They haven't been too bad, I just don't feel well and so it seems as if they are worse than they actually are. My daughter told me if I play Candy Land it will make me feel better-she beat me-twice! Made me feel good that she was trying to help me to feel better though. All son wants to do is throw his balls into everything, it's actually cute. Tomorrow I should be receiving a shipment of the new weight loss stuff called Sensa. I'm skeptical, however I got a two month supply for less than $2, so I couldn't turn down the offer. I am going to do as it says and see how it is, I really need to lose this weight, so my husband and I can go on a cruise to the Bahamas! So excited, but I'm not gonna go if I'm looking...

It's Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve....the night that Santa Clause comes to visit every child on Earth (or so believed), and families do many different traditions; but I have realized that my family does not have any traditions. So, I have made up my mind to have family traditions. I started by adopting a friend's tradition of "Cookie Sunday", but it ended up being "Cookie Wednesday". We baked cookies and gave them to the neighbors as presents. I am thinking that we need to read "The Night Before Christmas" and the "Christmas Story". But why do we celebrate traditions? Is it because we have this comfort in knowing what to expect in stead of "winging it"? I think that we as a society and the human species, we are social and like routine, that is exactly what a tradition is. I am a creature of habit (as most of us are) and I am wanting to go to a Christmas Eve service and return in attending church. I want my children to know the exact, real meaning of Chr...

IDK

So, we went and looked at a house yesterday. We fell in love with it. Four bedrooms, three baths, four acres of land....all for 70,000 bucks. We put a small deposit down for the house, and now, we are thinking we need to wait a little bit. I'm not sure of what exactly to do. Should we go ahead and put money into a place when we don't know if and what problems it has? Should we stay in an overpriced apartment which is 40 miles to school and Charity and Joshua don't have a yard, but we can get out of debt and maybe save some money. It's a hard decision. I would love to just get up and move, however, I don't want to make a rash decision. I mean, owning a home is a whole different ball game. We'd have taxes, and a septic tank, and if something breaks, WE have to fix it. But it would be OURS. IDK it's a hard decision. I need to pray....pray real hard. I don't know. I just don't know.
