This too shall pass
We are all given this opportunity to live life. We can either be intimidated by the hurdles that plague our journey-or we can accept them and deal with them, as they come along. I was at church a few years back and a pastor was speaking about the other end of the storm. Each storm we endure has one thing in common-it too will end. If you think of a storm that has come through, yes it is nasty outside, but when it passes there is sunshine and beauty. I am not saying you can't see or feel the effects of the storm, but the storm has passed. I am taking this thought with me: "This too shall pass". A very close person I know's husband who is in his late 20's is being tested for cancer. They have two children around my children's ages and I am thinking how can I be there for this friend? What would I do if I were in her situation? Well, I can't say for sure, however I would expect I would want encouragement from my peers and family-not sympathy. I would want to do everything I could to raise awareness about cancer to help decrease and eventually eliminate cancer. I would want to hear "this too shall pass". The more I think about that saying, I realize we only think of positive endings. If her husband was to die from cancer, the cancer diagnosis would have passed. So in all actuality, it really isn't much comfort is it?
I received notice today that my 90 year old great grandmother, Jean Hodges finished her journey in life. She had six children and I honestly have no idea how many brothers and sisters. There is no telling how many direct living decedents she left either, I do know there's a lot of us. We may not all be going down the same path, but we all have the same destination: death. We can not escape it, we can not deny it. It is a part of life. I am going to miss my grandmother and be there for my mother and grandmother. I will be supportive in anyway I can, as I can be there for my friend who's husband is going though tests. I will be there even when the 'this too shall pass'.
What we do with our opportunity of life is up to us. We are the authors of our own book. As I open a new chapter in my life, it too shall pass, I will then start a new chapter. What will you do with your opportunity?
