This too shall pass

We are all given this opportunity to live life. We can either be intimidated by the hurdles that plague our journey-or we can accept them and deal with them, as they come along. I was at church a few years back and a pastor was speaking about the other end of the storm. Each storm we endure has one thing in common-it too will end. If you think of a storm that has come through, yes it is nasty outside, but when it passes there is sunshine and beauty. I am not saying you can't see or feel the effects of the storm, but the storm has passed. I am taking this thought with me: "This too shall pass". A very close person I know's husband who is in his late 20's is being tested for cancer. They have two children around my children's ages and I am thinking how can I be there for this friend? What would I do if I were in her situation? Well, I can't say for sure, however I would expect I would want encouragement from my peers and family-not sympathy. I would want to ...

Put the cape on....

I got a job as an Office Clerk at a local power sports store. Hmmm. I have no clue how to speak the lingo! Good thing is that I am a fast learner and I will not be dealing with the maintenance of the bikes and quads. I have lost five pounds so far and plan on taking up kick boxing instead of Zumba (my new schedule conflicts with that of Zumba's). So, I will not only be working out, but I will be learning how to kick some booty; so you better watch out! I think I am doing good with my diet, with the exception of yesterday when I had a huge Cannoli! As far as school, ohmygoodness! My schedule is crazy hectic! I will work M-F 8:30 to 5:30; Saturday 8:30-2:00; class on Monday and Wednesday from 6:30-8:00, Charity wants to do T-ball and I'm thinking of bein...

Reflections

It is yet another new year; a time when we spend reflecting on the past and try to focus on our future. As I join many people, I reflect on the year that held many disappointments. In 2011 we witnessed many imaginable things: a shooter took lives of innocent people in Arizona,  an earthquake in Japan that took the lives of many, the Royal wedding between Prince William and Royal Duchess Catherine, the slaying of Osama bin Laden, the rebuilding of Tuscaloosa, Alabama when the tornadoes took the lives and livelihood of many people to a soldier in training whose life was cut short. For me, 2011 I have had heart breaks, as well as triumphs. My family and I have went from homeless with very few possessions to having a place full of furniture, clothes, and other necessities. I have learned that I am a better person because of the year 2011, I had hit rock bottom and the only place to go now is up; with the help and support of my husband, I am growing. I am moving on up. I have only two y...
